Nor'easter Develops Tonight
By Justin Drabick
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The weak clipper system is beginning to intensify off the VA coast this afternoon and will track northward tonight.
Many advisories and warnings are in effect throughout the Delaware Valley.
- A BLIZZARD WARNING is in effect for Ocean and Monmouth counties
- A WINTER STORM WARNING is in effect for West Central and Southern NJ, Philadelphia Co, Montgomery Co, Bucks Co, Delaware Co, Carbon Co, and Monroe Co
-A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY is in effect for all of Delaware, Chester Co, Lancaster Co, Berks Co, and Schuylkill Co
- A COASTAL FLOOD WARNING is in effect for coastal NJ and Delaware
As the storm intensifies, a heavy band of snow will development and push westward. How far west the band moves will depend on the track. There are still some inconsistencies on this in the forecast guidance, so a slight change in the track can make a huge difference.
Areas to the east of Philly will see the most snow. The heaviest snow will occur overnight, with snowfall rates of 1"+ per hour with gusty northerly winds over 30 mph causing blowing and drifting snow. The snow will then taper off during the morning hours on Tuesday.
