NFL Alumni Association President Joe Pisarcik: 'Obviously Mariota Over Foles'
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- Joe Pisarcik is a former quarterback for the Eagles and Giants and is now the President of the NFL Alumni Association. Neither of those two reasons, however, is why he joined the 94WIP Morning Show on Friday.
Pisarcik's son, Jake, is an offensive lineman at the University of Oregon and of course, 94WIP Morning Show host Angelo Cataldi wanted to pick Pisarcik's brain about Marcus Mariota.
"I think Mariota would be a great addition to the Eagles football team," Pisarcik told Cataldi. "I would definitely try to get Marcus Mariota for the Eagles football team, depending on how much it's gonna cost me."
Listen to Joe Pisarcik on the 94WIP Morning Show:
Pisarcik explained that Mariota's elusiveness and mobility would make him a perfect fit for Chip Kelly's offense.
"It's the style of offense that you have and the coaches build around with the kind of quarterback you have," Pisarcik said. "You want to get the quarterback to fit the offense, I think that brings us to the situation, I guess, to the Eagles.
"When you look at it, his effectiveness on the field is unquestioned," Pisarcik said of Mariota. "He threw, I think, six interceptions in whole career in college. Plus, if you want to have some factors in, I think he's one of the fastest quarterbacks there is."
So, would Mariota fit the Eagles' offense better than Nick Foles?
"He's [Mariota's] obviously the ideal quarterback to run the Eagles offense with Chip Kelly. Obviously, Mariota is better suited for this offense [than Foles]. Yes, definitely, a lot better than Nick Foles because he can run the ball."
