New Study Says Latinos Age Slower Than Other Ethnicities

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Anyone whose ever said J Lo has good genes... you were right!

A new study published in the scientific journal "Genome Biology," suggests Latinos age at a slower rate than other ethnic groups -- which makes sense given that Lopez is approaching 50.

Researchers from UCLA analyzed blood, saliva, and brain samples from seven different ethnic groups and found that Latinos' blood had a lower aging rate compared to African Americans and Caucasians among other groups.

The study also notes that "Hispanics in the United States have a longer life expectancy than Caucasians despite having a higher burden of traditional cardio-metabolic risk factors."

More research is needed but the findings may be able to help scientists figure out a way the aging process can be slowed down for everyone.
