New Jersey Moves Step Closer To Banning Declawing Of Cats

TRENTON, N.J. (CBS) -- New Jersey is closer to banning the declawing of cats. Veterinarians who declaw will face a $1,000 fine under a proposed bill.
It passed out of committee Monday.
Supporters say declawing is cruel and should not be done because a cat is destroying property.
Opponents argue declawing is better than surrendering a cat to a shelter where it may be euthanized.
