New App Helps Users Avoid Those Unwelcome Encounters

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- With all the social networks trying to help us "connect," it was only a matter of time before someone created a network to help us disconnect and even avoid certain people.
The next social craze may just be "anti- social." Founder Udi Dagen created the new app Split to help users avoid other people at any given time.
"It's not about people we hate," Dagen says. "It's mainly about people we just don't feel comfortable with. I mean, for example, it can be trying to avoid your parents when going on a first date."
Split uses data from Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Foursquare to chart the whereabouts of individuals on one's "Avoid" list.
"Instead of connecting people like Facebook or other social channels are doing, were disconnecting people," Dagen says. "We want to give the users the ability to regain control over their lives."
The app will beep a warning when someone on the list is getting close and even offers an alternate route in avoiding that person.
"Split" is available for Apple and Android devices.
