Neighbors Shaken After Home Invasion, Shooting In Ridley Park

RIDLEY PARK, Pa. (CBS) -- Neighbors say it's a generally quiet and safe neighborhood, so to have something like this happen in broad daylight, along with the fact that these suspects got away, has many concerned.
After 15 years of living in Ridley Park, fear is somewhat of a new feeling for neighbors in the area.
"Majority of the time, we have our doors open and windows open and we don't lock up because we live in a very safe neighborhood," said Nicole Furthing.
That's changing now after two men allegedly broke into a home on W. Ward Street just after 3:30 on Sunday afternoon. Ridley Park Police say once inside, the suspects struggled with the homeowner, firing at him, then got away by car.

That bullet grazed the homeowner in the ear, but he's expected to be okay.
"That was mind-boggling," said Erica Kelly. "They have no fear of repercussions."
What's most concerning for neighbors is that police believe this may have been a case of mistaken identity.
"Now, knowing they may have picked the wrong house, ok great, does that mean they were aiming for our house or a neighbors house? I didn't know that. That's scary to hear that," said Furthing.
We tried to speak with the homeowner, but no one came to the door. Meantime, those who live here aren't taking any chances.
Ridley Park's police chief says they're following several leads at this time. If caught, those suspects could face attempted murder and robbery charges.
