Navy Revokes Bill Cosby's Honorary Title Following Sexual Assault Allegations
ARLINGTON, Va. (CBS) – The Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus and Master Chief Petty Officer of the Navy Michael Stevens announced the Navy is revoking Bill Cosby's title of honorary Chief Petty Officer following numerous accusations that he drugged and sexually assaulted several women.
Cosby was originally presented the title in 2011.
The Navy says it is taking this action because allegations against Cosby are "very serious and are in conflict with the Navy's core values of honor, courage and commitment."
The Navy says Cosby enlisted in 1956 and served four years as a hospital corpsman before being honorably discharged in 1960 as a 3rd Class Petty Officer.
Cosby resigned from the Temple University Board of Trustees earlier this week.
