Mystery Of Nadia Malik's Death Deepens
By Walt Hunter
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The sad mystery of Nadia Malik's death grew deeper today, as Philadelphia Police tell CBS 3's Walt Hunter an autopsy and nearly eight months of tests by the Philadelphia Medical Examiner have not been able to determine the cause and manner of her death.
The body of the 22-year-old mother, who vanished from the Upper Darby area February 9th, was found in a car 11 days later a short distance from 30th Street Station.
Lt. John Walker says the Medical Examiner examined all evidence gathered by Philadelphia detectives and investigators from Marple Township, in addition to his own findings, but was unable to determine what happened to her.
Malik's boyfriend, Bhupinder Singh, who police believe was with her around the time she disappeared, was arrested last February, spending several months in prison and on house arrest for violating parole on an earlier DUI conviction.
He is now free and is not charged with any wrongdoing in connection with Malik's death. His attorney declined comment.
Khaled Malik, Nadia's brother, in his first interview last March, stressed the family's need for answers, saying he suspected she had met with foul play.
Lt. Walker says the Philadelphia District Attorney's Office is now examining all evidence in the case to determine if, going forward, any charges will be filed against anyone.
