Manhunt For Suspects Who Stole 2 Watches Worth $37,000 From Men In Logan Square
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Caught on camera: Armed robbers jump out of a car, taking a group by surprise in Center City. The suspects stole two Rolex watches.
This incident comes as the police department investigates a handful of armed robberies across Center City.
Police say the suspects approached the victims as they were simply walking down the street when they threatened them with guns and then robbed them.
Surveillance video captures three men cornering a group of people as they walk in Center City Tuesday night, just before 7.
You can see the suspects pull up and pin them against a building on Cuthbert Street. Police say two of the suspects had guns.
Eyewitness News showed the video to people passing by where the armed robbery happened.
"Oh my God," one woman said.
Investigators say the suspects stole Rolexes from a 64 and a 26-year-old man. Both watches totaled $37,000.
Sources say that this robbery is believed to be connected to a similar one in Rittenhouse.
As the investigation continues, people CBS3 spoke with say they do their best to avoid walking at night.
"I know I see a lot on TV, channel 3 of course, and it's scary. I'm scared to come down, definitely not at night," one woman said.
"If I have to go I have to go but I don't stay out here the way I used to," another woman said.
"For the most part I do [feel safe], but the problems with the violence and everything going on it is very concerning," a man said.
Police are reminding everyone to be aware of their surroundings.
"It just comes to show you have to be on your P's and Q's at all times because you never know," a man said.
Police say no one was hurt in this armed robbery.
