Man Tied Up At Gunpoint During Home Invasion In Frankford

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Police are searching for two men after a terrifying home invasion overnight in Northeast Philadelphia in which a man was tied up at gunpoint while his wife and grandson hid.

It happened around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday along the 1300 block of Sellers Street in the Frankford section of the city.

Police say a 51-year-old man who lives in the first floor apartment was awakened by two masked men pointing guns in his face. The gunmen tied him up with electrical chords an gagged him with a shirt, and then ransacked the bedroom and living room.

"The suspects took about $200 in cash, a 52 inch flatscreen TV and they also took Playstation," said Chief Inspector Scott Small.

Authorities say all of this happened while the man's 52-year-old wife and 10-year-old grandson were hiding under a bed in another bedroom.

Police say the two men, believed to be in their late 30's or early 40's, broke into the home through a rear glass door and fled the scene the same way.

"There are motion detector lights in the alley," Small said. "Those bulbs were loosened."

No one was injured in the incident.

Police are investigating and say they have reason to believe the suspects may have been familiar with the home.
