Local University Encourages Healthy Living Through Competition

By Lynne Adkins

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Students living a healthy lifestyle and using social media could win a lot of money in cash and scholarships from a local university.

High School students are being urged to take part in a Healthy Lifestyles competition run by the University of the Sciences.

Richard Minoff, director of the Undergraduate Program of Pharmaceutical and Healthcare Business, explains:

"The assignment is to come up with a social media program designed to convince people to make healthier lifestyle decisions, to develop a campaign and then tactically -- how would they go about bringing information to achieve their objectives via social media, whether it be Twitter, Facebook, Vine."

Minoff says the top prize is $2,000 in cash and a $5,000 scholarship.

The application deadline is October 27th.
