Local Doctor Battles Concussions With Vitamins

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A local physician is prescribing vitamins to help kids with concussions get back to normal.

85% of his patients with concussions complain of headaches according to Dr. Stephen Stache, a Sports Medicine Doctor at the Rothman Institute at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and finding ways to treat the pain without medication is a priority.

He says research shows that certain vitamins can be effective in migraine management.

The nice thing about these specific vitamins is very low side effect profile, they're water absorbed so the body takes what you need and expels the rest.

The vitamins can be purchased over the counter at the local drug store or supermarket, they include, b-2 also known as riboflavin, co enzyme q-10, magnesium and fish oil.
