Kids Learn Importance Of Community To Celebrate MLK Day In Philly
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A weekend long celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. continues at the Please Touch Museum where young visitors learn about the importance of inclusiveness and community.
Break dancers dazzled the crowd, then invited the kids to get on the floor and show off their moves.
Alice Gonglewski with the museum says the performance is just part of their MLK program:
"We have a community quilt project, so kids can decorate a square for a paper quilt that's going to be displayed at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia."
Andrea and her little boy were coloring one piece of the quilt. She says this is a great opportunity to teach him some lessons:
"You want your kids to grow up and you want them to understand what it means to be a global citizen. But apart from that, you also want them to understand the community around them is very important."
The program continues through Monday.
