Jay Glazer: 'People Get Chip Kelly Wrong, He's Just A Dude'

By Andrew Porter

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Plenty of analysts and fans have pegged Chip Kelly as an arrogant, cocky, know-it-all. Someone who is out to prove how much more he knows about football than everyone else.

Furthermore, with the Eagles struggling early this season, these same people can't wait to send Kelly right back to college.

Jay Glazer, an NFL insider for FOX---who trained multiple Eagles' players at his MMA-style gym this past summer and is well-known among the players---stuck up for Kelly on Colin Cowherd's radio show on Friday.

"You know what he really is man? People get him wrong," Glazer explained. "He's just a dude from New Hampshire who drinks Coronas. I'm dead serious. He's not what people think he is. He is not this elitist. He's not a guy who is trying to beat his players down."

"I think he's intellectual," Cowherd said. "I like the system. I think he fits the NFL."

Glazer and Cowherd mentioned coaches like the University of Michigan's Jim Harbaugh and the University of Alabama's Nick Saban, as college coaches who beat their players down, contrasting them with Kelly.

"Chip doesn't do that," Glazer said. "Chip treats his guys with respect. Chip, his whole thing is about---he's not trying to embarrass anybody, beat you down. He's trying to get the system and the system is smart., His entire system is predicated on pace. Pace beats talent every day of the week when you are exhausted."
