Is K.J. Apa The MVP Of The Upcoming 'Riverdale' Musical Episode?
Philadelphia (CW Philly) — Hey, Riverdale fans- we're just days away from Riverdale High's adaptation of Carrie: The Musical! Refinery 29's Ariana Romero had the chance to sit down with Casey Cott [Kevin Keller] to talk about the upcoming episode, "Chapter Thirty-One: A Night to Remember."
Romero was curious to know if anything surprised Cott while filming, and he immediately responded, "K.J. Apa's [Archie Andrews] dancing."
"[His dancing] really is something I never thought I needed until I saw it," Cott continued.
In fact, the entire Riverdale cast recognizes Apa's dance skills.
Camila Mendes [Veronica Lodge] dished about her on-screen boyfriend's talent.
"K.J. is a great dancer. When we go out, K.J. dances, he's great. But this is a different kind of dancing. This is musical theater dancing and jazz hands. K.J. fully embraced it," Mendes said.
Mendes even revealed Apa's dance alter-ego!
"He has this alter-ego whom we've named Fiona — FiFi for short. She comes out and she comes out hard. She goes in," Mendes said.
Though the cast gave Apa a silly alter-ego name, they do have serious appreciation for his talent.
"It's like the most incredible thing you've ever seen," Lili Reinhart [Betty Cooper] said.
Additionally, the episode's choreographer, Heather Laura Gray, praised Apa on his performance.
"It's been phenomenal how quickly he absorbs the material and can perform it so quickly. I actually saw him, I think it was day two of shooting, while we were on break, he fully repeated a duet Camila did with Jordan [Connor, who plays Sweet Pea], on his own. He just decided to do that all on his own," Gray said.
Who's excited to see K.J. Apa break it down on Riverdale High's stage?
"A Night to Remember" airs Wednesday, April 18 at 8 p.m. on The CW Philly.
