NJ Resident Alerts Police Of Man's Alleged Threats To "Shoot Up A Mosque"
GLOUCESTER Twp, NJ (CBS) – Gloucester Township Police say they were alerted by a local resident of a threatening post from a man in Texas claiming he was going to "shoot up a mosque."
Authorities in Fort Bend, Texas say they received notice from Gloucester Township Police concerning terroristic threats made on social media.
Gloucester Township Police said they were alerted by a concerned citizen who received the alarming messages.
Police say the sender of the messages allegedly threatened to "shoot up a mosque" and posted images of an assault rifle and ammunition.
Authorities identified the alleged sender as Clayton Alexander Cansler, 26, of New Territory, Fort Bend County.
Officials noted the suspect's home is in close proximity to a mosque and quickly responded.
Police say Cansler was found at his place of employment, the Sugar Land Municipal Airport, where he was detained and subsequently arrested.
Authorities say no weapons were located during the investigation.
Police say during a statement, Cansler cited the reason for making the alleged threats was he was distressed due to having a close friend die in the September 11th attacks in the World Trade Center, in addition to the recent attacks in Paris.
Cansler remains in custody of the Fort Bend County Sherriff's Office and his bond has been set at $10,000.
