Windy, Icy Conditions Impact Travel Across The Region
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Windy, icy conditions caused havoc on area roadways Monday night.
A man was killed on Sproul Road in Radnor Township when a tree came crashing down on his car.
In Philadelphia, Lincoln Drive was shut down in both directions near Gypsy Lane for most of the evening after runoff covered both lanes causing icy spots.
Shortly after 11 p.m., Lincoln Drive was closed again due to a water main break.
"Yeah, it's cold," said a driver.
From Allentown to Bucks and Montgomery counties, the thermometer is dropping and plummeting temperatures mean difficult driving.
"Very windy. In my car it's really loud just because of how much wind is pressing up against the car," said driver Jennifer Mohn.
(Reporter:) "You feel like it's blowing you off the road?"
"Yeah, it's really bad," said Mohn.
At a Pennsylvania Turnpike rest stop, truck drivers parked for the night deciding to take a break from the wind. Driver Louis Ruiz is coming from Wilkes-Barre heading into Philadelphia.
"It's icy and a lot of water on the floors. It's very dangerous especially for tractor trailers. It's really bad," said Ruiz.
Around 7:41 p.m., the Delaware River Port Authority tweeted that all empty tractor trailers are prohibited from crossing the Walt Whitman Bridge due to current high wind speeds.

Cleared roads presented their own challenge with the day's snow now turning to a sheet of ice. Extra salters have been deployed and everyone is being urged to use caution.
"They were pretty icy, then I saw the trucks out there putting down the salt and everything," said a driver.
The Philadelphia Streets Department has deployed 30 salt trucks to respond to icy road conditions.
