Husband Of Missing Mt. Laurel Woman Charged With Her Death

MOUNT LAUREL, N.J. (CBS) -- The husband of a Mount Laurel woman missing since New Year's Eve has been charged with killing her, investigators announced Tuesday.

Kyle J. Crosby, age 28, was charged Tuesday morning with one count of Murder for causing the death of his wife, 26-year-old Erica Crippen.

Crosby's bail is set at $1.2 million, $1 million for murder and $200,000 for child endangerment.

Crosby was taken into custody Monday evening by Brooklawn police officers following a traffic stop and foot chase in Bellmawr.

Erica Crippen's body has still not been located, but investigators are pursuing additional leads with respect to her whereabouts.

In the trunk of the vehicle being driven by Crosby, investigators found several items they believe have evidential value in connection to her disappearance.

Crippen's cousin, Barbara Kellam, told Eyewitness News on January 9th that her cousin and Crosby went out on December 30 to PJ Welihan's in Cherry Hill.

Kellam said all communication with her cousin went silent after then.

Kellam said that she and other family members took a look in Erica's apartment shortly after her disappearance and found the normally tidy residence in complete disarray.

Kellam says there was broken glass, a broken window blind and no shower curtain or rod in the bathroom.

According to investigators, Crippen lived with Crosby and two children -- a seven-year-old daughter from a previous relationship -- and their three-month-old daughter.

Officers with the Mount Laurel Police Department were sent to the couple's home on January 7th for a wellness check after the older child failed to report to school that week.

Investigators said Crosby signed a missing person report that day indicating he had not seen his wife since New Year's Day.

Further investigation led to a charge against Crosby filed on January 10th for Endangering the Welfare of a Child due to the level of care he provided to the children in the absence of his wife.

Investigators say the existence of that charge allowed law enforcement officers to execute the traffic stop Monday and detain Crosby.

Anyone with information concerning the whereabouts of Erica Crippen is asked to contact Burlington County Central Communications at 609-265-7113.
