Hot And Humid The Week
By Justin Drabick
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- After a pleasant weekend with low humidity across the Delaware Valley, a warmer and humid air mass will begin to return for the work week. The high pressure that was responsible for the comfortable conditions will begin to move offshore, allowing for a stronger southerly wind flow to develop. This will bring in hotter temperatures along with higher humidity.
High temperatures will return above average on Monday in the upper 80s under partly sunny skies. The real humid conditions return on Tuesday and continue through Thursday as dew points rise into the 70s, making it feel oppressive.
Along with the hot and humid air mass will be chances for afternoon thunderstorms, with the best chances Wednesday and Thursday. A slow moving cold front will then move through the region later on Thursday.
There will still be a chance of showers on Independence Day, as the front lingers offshore along with some tropical moisture from a disturbance currently off the Southeast coast. If the front moves faster, drier conditions would return for the 4th of July.
