#GetaRoom: Police Use Social Media To Stop Couples Getting Frisky In Parks
By KYW Social Media Editor Melony Roy
BUCKINGHAM TOWNSHIP, Pa. (CBS) --- One Bucks County town is urging residents to "get a room" and stop getting physical in the neighborhood's parks.
The Buckingham Township Police Department is using the hashtag #GetaRoom, to remind residents on Facebook and Twitter that they could get a citation for "romantic meetings" in public parks after dark.
"It's just something that we're finding on patrol in our township parks and there are posts that they close at sundown and on a nightly basis we find people violating that regulation," Says Buckingham Township Police Lieutenant JR Landis.
One post reads, "#GetaRoom Reminder Twp. parks close at dusk. Nightly we're finding couples "hanging out" usually in the back seats of cars. If you're found in the parks in a compromising position you'll definitely be embarrassed, and possibly receive a citation."

"We're not in it to make money, so we would just prefer that people do what they're supposed to do when they're supposed to do it," Landis says.
He says social media is an easy way to communicate a serious message in a light-hearted way, and the response has been mostly positive.
