Fundraiser Held To Help Abused Dog Left To Die In Chester
CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa. (CBS) -- Medical bills have been piling up to care for Remi, the abused dog found on the side of the road in Chester last week.
Russ Harper is with Justice Rescue, and found the pit bull, severely injured and 16 pounds underweight.
"His temperature was so cold, it wouldn't register on the thermometer, and his blood pressure was so weak it wouldn't register on the machine either." said Harper.
"His internal organs began to shut down, so they had to do a lot of care with him, and then ultimately it came to his kidneys, his kidneys were not functioning at all."
Justice Rescue finds abused and neglected dogs, and cares for them, from conviction of the abuser to adoption of the pup.
"We got a bunch of guys, we all loved animals, so we started rescuing animals from their abusers," he said.
Conshocken's Southern Cross Restaurant held a fundraiser to raise the cash to care for Remi. $20 at the door, for some southern cookin', and a lot of love for Remi, something Dana couldn't pass up.
"I am a dog-lover at heart, and being an advocate for those dogs that are abused, I am a full 100-percent supporter of it," said Dana.
Stephen Frost came in from Wayne, and says it's all in the name of puppy love.
"(It) touched my heart, and there are probably a lot of other dogs out there that need that help."
