Fundraiser Planned To Help Encourage Students With An Interest In Music

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A fundraiser this month in West Philadelphia is designed to help students foster a love in music.

Clark Park at 43rd and Chester is the site of a Fall Festival with 'Rock to the Future' on September 19th.

Program Director Josh Craft says Rock to the Future is a nonprofit helping needy students throughout the city.

"Have an after-school program Monday through Friday 3-6. We have in-school workshops where we go into the schools and teach electric guitar classes and we also have summer camps."

He says when school budgets are cut, music and art programs are often eliminated first. He hopes the festival will raise up to a thousand dollars to fill the program gap. The event runs from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and is featuring local bands, crafts, food and raffles.
