Former Rendell Spokesman Takes On Same Role With Kane
By Tony Romeo
HARRISBURG, Pa. (CBS) -- A former spokesman for ex-Governor Ed Rendell is stepping into the breach to act as spokesman for embattled Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane. He becomes the 7th person to hold the job since Kane took office in 2013.
Chuck Ardo is a veteran Harrisburg political spokesman, having served not only former Governor Rendell, but also serving as spokesman for a time during the stormy tenure of Linda Thompson, the former mayor of Pennsylvania's capital city. The 68 year-old Ardo, who has signed a six month contract, admits to some trepidation about handling communications for another besieged political figure, but he says...
"The reality is that she allayed some of my concerns when were able to get together and talk," Ardo says. "And I began to think that maybe I had prejudged the situation."
Ardo says the attorney general called him and he says, no, his new gig was not arranged by his former boss, Ed Rendell, or at least, says Ardo, Rendell denied that he was behind it when Ardo asked him.
