Food Truck Review: No. 27
WAFFLES AND WEDGES
We didn't go for the potato wedges, but sampled two varieties of waffles from the truck, which is headquartered at 15th and Pine but travels to various parties and festivals. You can follow its schedule on Twitter at @waffleswedges.
It was a busy night at the Williamstown, N.J. Food Truck Festival when we caught up with them, and the two folks behind the counter were cranking the waffles out fast. Maybe that's a reason why ours seemed a bit undercooked and doughy. Certainly, they could have used another minute or two.
The $9 Waffle Chick was a so-called "liege" waffle (carmelized on the outside, soft on the inside) topped with pulled chicken, honey and BBQ sauce. As we said, undercooked, and the sauce tasted like the generic kind you'd find in the economy aisle at the Acme.
The $8 Sweet & Salty was . . .well, interesting. The waffle is topped with bacon pieces, Reese's peanut butter sauce and Hershey's chocolate syrup. Kind of fun. More fun, I imagine, if you're a stoner with the munchies.
