Flyers' Playoff Chances Up To 80-Percent
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Did somebody say playoff hockey?
The Philadelphia Flyers suddenly have a strangle hold on the second eastern conference wildcard slot thanks to the Detroit Red Wings' 4-3 loss on Tuesday night to the Montreal Canadiens.
Remarkably, the Flyers' playoff chances are now up to 80.3-percent. With a win at home on Wednesday night over the Washington Capitals, whom have already clinched the No. 1 seed, the Flyers' playoff chances would soar to around 90-percent.
Furthermore, the Boston Bruins -- currently third place in the Atlantic Division -- are free falling. The Bruins fell 2-1 to the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday night, their sixth loss in seven games.
The Flyers, now 6-2-2 in their last 10 games, are tied with the Red Wings with 87 points but have two games in hand. The Bruins, battling to stay above the Red Wings as well for that third and final guaranteed playoff spot in the Atlantic, have just 88 points.
The Islanders, with 91 points, are four points ahead of the Flyers. Both teams have seven games to play, including their season-finale matchup on Sunday, April 10th.
Let the fun begin.
