Firefighters Battle 2-Alarm Building Blaze In West Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Fire officials say firefighters battled a two-alarm blaze at a building in West Philadelphia.

Eyewitness News is told the fire was reported at about 6:13 p.m. Tuesday at 49th and Market Streets.

Fire officials say firefighters arrived to heavy fire on the third floor.  The fire extended to one property to the left, according to officials. They say the fire reached two alarms before being placed under control.

Fire officials say all of the occupants were out of the building when they arrived.

The American Red Cross responded to the scene and is assisting 12 people.  The Red Cross will assess the needs of those impacted and will provide emergency aid like food, clothing, shoes and possibly lodging as needed.

There have been no injuries reported at this time.
