Wilmington Apartment Fire Declared Arson

WILMINGTON, DEL. (CBS) -- An early morning fire that ripped through an apartment building in New Castle County, Delaware has been declared arson.

The two-alarm blaze broke out around 1:15 a.m. Saturday at the Woods Edge Apartments along the 1200 block of Terra Hill Drive in Wilmington.

Crews arrived on scene to find the vacant building engulfed in flames.

It took firefighters several hours to place the blaze the under control.

State fire investigators determined that a person or persons deliberately ignited materials inside the building. Deputy fire marshals started a criminal investigation and were searching for those responsible for starting the fire.

Officials say the fire caused heavy damage to the building, but there were no injuries.
