Ferguson Protesters Go Door-To-Door In University City
By Walt Hunter
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- More than 200 students made their way through the University of Pennsylvania and Drexel campuses in University City early in the afternoon, protesting events in Ferguson, Missouri.
Gathering at 1:01 p.m. the time, locally, that Michael Brown was shot on August 9th, the demonstrators went door-to-door across Penn's campus, seeking students in classrooms and dorms to join them.
The protest, winding through campus, stopped for a few minutes in the intersection of 34th and Walnut Streets, students laying silent on the highway.
Many of the demonstrators expressed their belief that Brown's death at the hands of a white police officer rasised concerns about police race relations that must be addressed nationally.
After an hour, the loud, but peaceful protest, disbanded, demonstrators promising future protests would be coming.
