Family Member Helps Track Down Suspect In Bucks County Bank Robbery
FAIRLESS HILLS, Pa. (CBS) -- A suspect in the robbery of a bank in Bucks County has been arrested and investigators say a family member helped to track him down.
According to investigators, Trevor Bergey walked into the TD Bank on Oxford Valley Road Tuesday and presented a note to the teller.
Police say Bergey obtained an undetermined amount of cash and fled the scene.
At about 9 p.m. Tuesday, the Bristol Township Police Department received a phone call from a woman who identified herself as Bergey's mother.
The female told police she received a call from the suspect's aunt who saw the bank robbery photo online and recognized it as him.
Bergey's mother told police her son was a heroin addict who recently broke up with his girlfriend and was suicidal.
At the time, she told police she did not know where her son was located.
At about 1 a.m. Wednesday, the mother called to report that her son was at Lower Bucks Hospital seeking help from heroin withdraw symptoms.
Officers responded to the hospital and stayed with Bergey until his treatment was complete.
Once his treatment was complete, a detective interviewed Bergey and police say he confessed to the bank robbery.
Bergey is being held at the Bucks County Correctional Facility on $500,000 bail.
