PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Even the walking was challenging this morning in and around center city Philadelphia.

Merchants along Walnut, Chestnut, and Market Streets had workers out shoveling and salting, but crossing at intersections was dicey due to high ridges of snow created by plows grooming the roadways.

"The wind chill is... deadly," said one young woman with just a hint of a laugh.

Accuweather was clocking winds of 18-20 miles per hour this morning with gusts between 30 and 35 mph.
