Elderly Man In Critical Condition After South Phila. House Fire
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia fire crews responded to a fire on Wednesday afternoon. The fire was placed under control, but a man was left in critical condition as a result.
Philadelphia Fire Commissioner Adam Thiel announced that firefighters responded to a home on the 900 block of Wharton Street in South Philadelphia, shortly before 2:30 p.m.
Officials say that an elderly man was rescued from a bedroom located on the upper floor of the home. He was taken to Jefferson University Hospital for treatment.
The fire was placed under control shortly before 3:00 p.m.
