LeSean McCoy, Trent Cole Feud At Practice
By Ed Benkin
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Things were heating up in more ways than one at Eagles practice on Sunday.
With the humidity rising, tempers were flaring between two of the team's top players. Despite another practice without live tackling, Trent Cole and LeSean McCoy got into an altercation after a play early in practice. Both players brushed off the incident after practice ended.
"That's my brother," said Cole. "We were just playing around, that's all."
"That was nothing," said McCoy. "It was just two friends going at it. "The whole camp so far, he's been touching me just a little bit too much. We were just battling, that's all. It was nothing. That's actually one of my good friends. We're really like brothers."
The altercation was the most contact seen on the field on day two of training camp. Chip Kelly established a practice routine a year ago which featured less practice in pads, something Cole has no complaints about.
"Everybody knows what they have to do to prep in the off-season," Cole said. "When it's time to get together, we're not practicing by having two-a-days, but we know we have to get everything done in a certain amount of time. All of the guys have one goal, and we can get things done."
Another player who is back from an injury appears ready to deal with contact. One year after tearing his knee during a training camp workout, Jeremy Maclin says he is back to where he was before the injury.
"I feel good," said Maclin. "I feel fast. I feel quick. I think I'm getting out of my breaks pretty good. I'll only continue to get better."
As training camp progresses, the team is excited to get to the start of the season. McCoy said this summer is quite different from last year's camp, when the players didn't know what to expect from their head coach.
"The best thing about it is we know what Chip Kelly wants," McCoy said. "Last year, we got a guy from college and we didn't know how he would be and what type of program he'd be running. Now, we know what he wants."
The Eagles will hold a public practice at Lincoln Financial Field tomorrow afternoon at 12:15. The team's clear bag policy will be in effect. Click here for more information.
