Hundreds of people eager for their free coffee streamed into the Wawa as soon as it opened at 8 a.m.
"It's a nice layout. A lot of room. There's seating next to the windows so you can actually eat inside the store. It's nice."
The Philadelphia Business Journal reported Wawa, in input to the city health department, indicated that proposed regulations on tobacco sales could slow the company's expansion in the city.
Wawa's Philadelphia operations director Dave Simonetti says, "We took our opportunity to make those public comments and bring some concerns up with the city. And I think hopefully it lands in a good place."
In the meantime, customers enjoyed their free cuppa Joe.
