PLYMOUTH TOWNSHIP, Pa. (CBS) -- Forecasters are predicting another major winter storm for the Philadelphia region, and that has some municipalities concerned again about the amount of salt they'll need to keep the roads clear.

During the last storm, a number of communities were worried they would run out of salt.  It's become a commodity almost as valuable as gold.

It's been a a while since the last storm, and that's given municipalities a chance to restock.  But will it be enough?

"We have probably about two hundred ton in stock right now," says Plymouth Township public works director Chris Loschiavo, "which is probably enough to get us through a major storm -- or two small, nuisance storms."

So, Monday might not be a problem, he warns, but after that it's anybody's guess.

He says he was on the phone with a salt company which is expecting a ship carrying salt at any time.

Loschiavo says he's still expecting another 500 tons of salt, but when and if it gets here was still to be determined.
