Delaware Governor Issues Apology After Racy Photo 'Inadvertently' Tweeted
DELAWARE (CBS) -- The governor of Delaware was forced to offer an apology after a racy photo of a female was "inadvertently" sent out from his verified Twitter account.
On Thursday morning, a Tweet went out from Governor Jack Markell's account stating that he was at Warner Elementary School in Wilmington to promote a new education initiative.
Ummm... Maybe she's a teacher? @GovernorMarkell pic.twitter.com/3kXlpPgf7j

However, the photo attached to the Tweet was that of a blonde-haired woman wearing what appeared to be bondage gear and giving the "peace" sign.
The Tweet was quickly deleted and an apology, posted below, was then posted on Markell's Twitter account.
An inappropriate photo was inadvertantly sent out earlier. We are looking into how this occurred but apologize to anyone who was offended.

Governor Markell's office also released the following statement:
"During this morning's event, a tweet was composed with a link to what was supposed to be a picture that had just been uploaded to the internet of the Governor's education announcement. While the tweet was being edited, the auto-generated link for the picture was inadvertently altered. As a result, the picture linked to the tweet was a random, unrelated, and inappropriate picture that has been on the internet since 2010, and not the just-uploaded picture of the event. The tweet was deleted and we apologize for the error.
The lessons here are not to compose tweets too quickly and there is a lot of odd stuff on the internet. We just wish the accidental link had been a cat video."
