Connor Barwin And Mark Sanchez Visit Amtrak Derailment Patients At Hospital
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Tragedies often bring communities together. Bonds are formed through adversity and examples of that were seen in abundance on Tuesday night following the Amtrak train derailment that occurred in Philadelphia.
A significant piece of the fabric of the Philadelphia community is sports. Several of the teams and athletes in Philadelphia expressed their sympathy following the tragic event.
Two members of the Eagles, Connor Barwin and Mark Sanchez, visited Temple University Hospital on Wednesday where medical professionals were tending to many of the injured passengers from the crash. Employees of the hospital shared their pictures with the two football players.
The Eagles also sent out the following tweet on Wednesday to share well wishes with those impacted by the tragedy.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims of #Amtrak188. We salute the first responders who heroically saved many lives last night.

In a city that at times seems to revolve around sports, there are certain things that far transcend that. Events like Tuesday night's fall into that category and the teams and athletes understand that.
