Congressman On Proposed Immigration Reforms: 'What The President Wants To Do Is The DREAM Act On Steroids'
By Dom Giordano
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Dom Giordano spoke with Congressman Lou Barletta, from Pennsylvania's 11th District on Talk Radio 1210 WPHT about his opposition to an executive order being considered by the White House that would modernize the immigration system.
Barletta believes the President Obama's actions are illegal and would damage Americans looking for jobs.
"What the President wants to do now is the DREAM Act on steroids. It's not good enough allowing illegal immigrants to stay here and not be deported and not allow immigration officers to even question their status. Now he wants to make sure we give them work permits, a two-year work permit, so people who are here illegally can take more jobs away from our kids and the 20 million Americans who couldn't find work today."

He stated the way to stop this administrative action is through a lawsuit being prepared in the House of Representatives.
"We're going to be taking action this week, suing the President for violating the Affordable Care Act. There is no area that he has violated worse than immigration laws in this country, putting this country at national security risk. I am calling for that, if the President moves forward with these work permits to illegal immigrants that, we add his violation of immigration laws to this lawsuit."
Breaking with some of his Republican colleagues, Barletta does not feel impeaching President Obama is a move they should consider at this time.
"It's not going to happen. Whether what he has done is impeachable offenses or not, it's not going to happen. Not with Harry Reid in the Senate. We'd be chasing a rabbit down a road that's going to come to a dead end."
