Congressman Norcross Among Those Will Hear From Pope During Joint Session Of Congress
By Ian Bush
WASHINGTON, D.C. (CBS) -- Among those lucky enough to be on the South Lawn of the White House for the Pope's appearance, Congressman Donald Norcross.
The South Jersey Democrat calls Francis a 'leader of conscience' whose message of hope and peace resonates across the world.
Tomorrow, Norcross and his fellow lawmakers will hear from the Pope during a joint session of Congress.
"The division and fighting [on Capitol Hill] goes on to a certain extent, but at the end we have to get something done. And that message of hope to me is that we come together to make sure we move the message of America forward."
He gave out more than 40 tickets to people from Camden, Gloucester, and Burlington Counties; Norcross says they'll be right up front on the West Lawn of the Capitol to watch the Pope's congressional address on jumbotrons and to see Francis in person as he looks out over the National Mall from the Speaker's Balcony.
