Reality Show Co-Host Holds Choir Auditions For Upcoming Performance In Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The co-host of Oxygen network's "Fix My Choir" show was in town Wednesday to audition voices for a special choir he's putting together for a North Philadelphia performance.
Gospel singer-choir director Deitrick Vaughn Haddon who appears on "Fix My Choir" with former Destiny's Child member Michelle Williams, auditioned voices during an open call at the Liacouras Center on Temple University's campus.
"Putting a choir together to represent Philly to celebrate our mothers on Mother's Day weekend," said Haddon.
Just like "American Idol," Haddon had each person enter the room and sing acapella, a verse or two from a favorite Gospel song as he recorded each performance on his iPhone.
Haddon says being part of a choir is a fulfilling experience -- well beyond just the music.
"You learn how to communicate with people, you learn how to deal with people -- different personalities. It's a wonderful training ground to be part of a choir," said Haddon.
The choir Haddon assembles will perform at a Mother's Day event on the Temple campus next month.
