Campaign Committees Watching 'Must Win' Senate Race Closely
By Larry Kane
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --- A game of posturing is going on politically in our region, and this one is not about the presidential campaign.
It's all about the Senate race against incumbent Republican Pat Toomey, which the Democrats consider a must win to regain a Senate majority.
Toomey will be tough, and the man who lost to him in 2010 is Joe Sestak. He's the frontrunner because he's been campaigning for months.
This last weekend, the Democratic Senate campaign committee held a gathering for potential candidates nationwide at Martha's Vineyard.
Sestak was invited but had a conflict. So was Katie McGinty, chief of staff to Governor Wolf who has aggressively sought out party leaders.
McGinty went, and will decide very soon whether to run, maybe in the next day or two, according to our sources.
