Tickets For City's Suite At Bruce Springsteen Concert To Benefit School District
By Pat Loeb
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Mayor Jim Kenney promised to use the city's suites at sports and concert venues to benefit the School District and he's making the first tickets available to the general public for a concert this week.
Tickets to see Bruce Springsteen at the Wells Fargo Center have been sold out for months, but 18 became available just days before the show on Friday, when the Fund for the School District of Philadelphia offered the first crack at its new fundraising tool: the Mayor's Suite.
"Mayor Kenney has decided it might be a great way to raise money for public education."
The Fund's director, Donna Frisby-Greenwood, says this is the first of half a dozen big concerts the Fund will sell tickets to including Carrie Underwood, Justin Bieber and Adele. The Fund is charging a bit of a premium for Springsteen.
"The whole suite is $10,000 and individual seats are $556. There are 18 seats."
But, then, he is The Boss. And it's for public schools.
