Brothers Charged With Stabbing Neighbors, Also Brothers, At Maple Shade Apartment Complex

MOUNT HOLLY, NJ (CBS) – Two men have been arrested for attempted murder after an alleged knife attack in Maple Shade.

Police officers from the Maple Shade Police Department responded to a report that two males had been stabbed in the area of Fox Meadow Drive and Hancock Drive around 2 a.m. on Sunday.

The victims, Daniel and Pedro Tapia, are reportedly brothers and live in an apartment in the Fox Meadow complex. They were taken to Cooper University Hospital in Camden.

Daniel Tapia, 31, is in stable condition with stab wounds to his face, neck and abdomen. Pedro Tapia, 27, was treated and released for a stab wound to his abdomen.

Franklin Sandoval Avila, 22, and Marco Veletanga Sandoval, 18, both of the Fox Meadow apartment complex, were arrested and charged with Attempted Murder, Aggravated Assault and Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose. The two are also brothers.

Police say the attack occurred outside of the unit shared by the Tapia brothers, and a motive is being investigated.

Bail was set for each of the suspects at $250,000.
