Watch: Bobby Ryan's Goal Wins A Puppy For A Family Of Four
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Two kids are getting a new puppy, thanks to Bobby Ryan's goal on Sunday night.
"Bobby, Dad said if you score we get a puppy!"
That was the sign Cole Jansen brought to the Senators' 3-0 win over the New York Rangers on Sunday evening. Sure enough, with 20 seconds left in the second period, Ryan -- the Cherry Hill, New Jersey native -- scored, winning Cole Jansen and his family a puppy. Well, at the cost of Cole's father.
"They've been bugging me for months to get this dog and I thought, 'Hey if I make a bet and they lose, at least I'm scot-free,' Cole's dad said via NHL.com. "I just shouldn't have picked such a talented player like Bobby Ryan, I should have picked someone else."
Ryan actually heard some of the interview from the bench.
"I wanted to get the poor kid a dog," Ryan said via NHL.com. "I couldn't really hear what was going on, I couldn't understand much of [the interview]. But I heard I was buying [another dog] if I scored another [goal], or something like that. That was a fair deal. I would have done that for them. I saved myself some money at least."
