Thrill Seekers Beat The Heat At Philadelphia's 'Devil's Pool'

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Many say it's the best spot in Philadelphia to splash around and beat the heat. But it may not be for everyone.

Daredevils were spending an excessively hot Thursday afternoon in Wissahickon Valley Park jumping off rocks, dropping about 20 feet into a spot of the creek known as Devil's Pool.

Some were sporting their signature techniques like these teens from South Jersey…

"The cannon ball because I got the full effect, you don't touch the bottom."

"I threw up the peace signs. It was kind of scary at first cause you like see the rocks all around and you're like is it really that deep? But once you jump, I didn't hit the ground so I think it's safe."

After a rigorous 2.5 mile run through the heavily wooded park, Joe and his friend Dave -- dripping in sweat -- took a break. It was actually a plunge rather, off the rocks and into the creek to cool off.

"And it was certainly worth it," Joe tells KYW Newsradio.

Then it was back to the trails to finish their run.
