Authorities Investigate 3 Suspected Storm-Related Deaths In Delaware County
RIDLEY Twp., Pa., (CBS) -- Police in Delaware County are investigating the deaths of three people who were found outside during dangerous temperatures Wednesday.
"At first I was in shock I guess because my husband and my son came in and said, 'Mom, they found a dead body,'" eyewitness Dawn Heart said.
"There was police on the other side of Dale Road, and I also saw an ambulance," eyewitness Sue Shaika said.
Shocked and confused Sue Shaika and neighbors say they watched nervously as crews removed a body from a field across the street in the 900 block of Dale Road.
"It's sad, it's very sad," Heart said.
Sources tell CBS 3 the 92-year-old woman pronounced dead here Wednesday afternoon is one of two elderly victims found dead in Ridley Township. Then, a third man, a 67-year-old was also found dead outside his Swarthmore home Wednesday morning and sources say all three cases are now being investigated to see if their deaths are weather-related.
"My condolences to the family, this is a very tragic thing that happened," Shaika said.
Autopsies are scheduled to determine the causes of death.
Names of the victims are being withheld pending notification of relatives.
