Police Pursuit Ends In Crash On Roosevelt Boulevard In Northeast Philadelphia
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A police pursuit ended in a crash on Roosevelt Boulevard in Northeast Philadelphia.
Police say just before 10:30 p.m. Friday, officers observed an alleged drug transaction in the 5100 block of Frankford Avenue.
Police say when officers went to apprehend a male, he allegedly struggled with police and fled on foot and jumped into a Cadillac Escalade.
When police tried to pull the vehicle over, they say he allegedly took off at a high rate of speed, striking the officers and dragging four officers, injuring two of them.
Police gave a description out of the vehicle over police radio and it was seen traveling in the inner lanes of the Roosevelt Boulevard just below Summerdale Avenue. At Langdon and the Boulevard, police say the front of the Escalade hit the left side of a Honda.
Police responded to the accident and apprehended the 24-year-old driver of the Escalade. Police say the male was allegedly resisting arrest and was tased.
The 25-year-old driver of the Honda was taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center in stable condition.
The two officers were taken to Jeanes Hospital in stable condition.
Police continue to investigate.
