Another Setback For Bill Cosby's Defense Of Sex Assault Charges
NORRISTOWN, Pa. (CBS) -- Pennsylvania's higher court deals a blow to Bill Cosby's defense of charges he drugged and fondled a woman inside his Cheltenham mansion back in 2004.
Prosecutors did not put Bill Cosby's accuser, Andrea Constand on the stand at his preliminary hearing, instead having detectives read in excerpts from interviewswith Constand from 2005 and 2006.
A lower court judge ruled that is acceptable for purposes of a preliminary hearing.
Cosby's attorneys asked Pennsylvania Superior Court to hear their appeal, but that request was denied.
This is not the end of the road for Cosby's attempts to get charges tossed out. No ruling yet on an argument from his attorney's last month that his due process rights were violated by the ten-year delay in filing charges as his eyesight and memory have deteriorated.
His trial is scheduled to start in June.
