AAA Mid-Atlantic: New Jersey Gas Prices Down Slightly

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — Motorists are seeing slightly lower prices at the pumps in New Jersey.

AAA Mid-Atlantic says the average price of a gallon of regular gas in the state on Friday was $1.98, down 2 cents from last week. That's also lower than the price from a year ago, when motorists were paying $2.13.

The price drop ends a three-week stretch where pump prices had risen in New Jersey.

The national average price on Friday was $2.18, down 4 cents from last week. That's also lower than the national average from a year ago, when motorists were paying $2.38.

Analysts say gas prices will likely continue to fall in New Jersey over the next few months due to falling demand and the changeover to cheaper-to-produce winter gasoline.
