$5,000 Reward Offered For Info On Shooting Of 8-Year-Old In Camden

CAMDEN, NJ (CBS) -- A $5,000 dollar reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person who shot an 8-year-old girl in Camden last night.

The shooting happened near the intersection of Spruce and South 8th Streets in Camden around 8:30 Wednesday night.

The 8-year-old girl was playing on the sidewalk when she was caught in the crossfire as two rival groups exchanged gunfire.

She was shot in the head and rushed to Cooper University Hospital where she's listed in critical condition.

Police Chief Scott Thompson says, "The individuals responsible for this are going to feel the full weight of law enforcement. They're nothing short of cowards."

Police are also reviewing surveillance video from the area to identify those involved.
