Police Investigate Double Shooting In North Philadelphia

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Police are investigating after they say a 14-year-old boy and a 19-year-old man were shot in North Philadelphia.

Philadelphia Police say it happened at about 4:32 p.m. Thursday at 25th and Jefferson Streets.

According to police, a 14-year-old boy was shot once in the leg. Police say he was taken to Hahnemann University Hospital and was placed in stable condition.

Police say a 19-year-old man was shot four times. He was also taken to Hahnemann University Hospital and placed in critical condition, according to police.

"It's a shame. Innocent people get hurt. It's terrible," said neighbor Brenda Watkins.

The shooting happened just a few yards from a playground. School was out at the time of the shooting, but several kids were on the grounds.

"If I wasn't downtown, I would have had my grand baby in that schoolyard," Watkins said.

No arrests have been made at this time. Police say two weapons have been recovered.

Police continue to investigate.

CBS 3 Eyewitness News reporter David Spunt contributed to this report.
